Pandemic and stillbirth rates

ONS’ latest stillbirth rates show a flattening of the year on year drop in stillbirth rates in 2020, to 3.80 from 3.83/1000 in 2019. This is consistent with the temporary drop in antenatal SGA detection rates during the first lockdown which we reported previously. Let’s hope the latest twist in the pandemic roller coaster will not have too great an effect on stillbirth rates and maternity care in general.

GROW App 2.0

Roll out of the exciting new app is progressing well, providing fully electronic charts, auto-plotted SFH & EFW measurements, and prompts for slow and accelerated growth. For units ready to upgrade, please contact gap@perinatal.org.uk

Message from Barnsley Hospital:

“We are very excited to be the first unit to go live with the GROW 2.0 software. The Antenatal Clinic team are now producing GROW charts using the new software, and in the new year we will be replacing our well used set squares to plot growth, with evidence based technology to ensure women are appropriately referred when any deviation from the norm is detected. We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support we have received from the Perinatal Institute, and the online training that has been provided”.
